"Everyone who is called by My name"

"Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” Isaiah 43. I praise You Jesus that You took care when You put me on this earth. This earth that so easily can ensnare me with sin. This earth were there is sadness, brokenness, disease and death, murder, hate, corruption, pain and loss. This earth where there are people born blind, deaf with deformities or where babies are still born. This earth where thieves steal, where loved ones die too young. You took care in designing me before You put me here.

I was born like this.

A blog post for all those in Jesus. I personally testify of the joy, forgiveness, mercy and love of God, because of the cross; Jesus was born to bare our sin. He was tempted and didn't want to do what He was born to do. You might say 'he was born like that'.  Who He was inside, in His spirit, wrestled greatly with what His flesh wanted. He denied 'what He was born like' in the flesh and fought the desires He felt to sin so greatly that He said;

Strength in the midst of pain. Salvation in the midst of loss.

I recently travelled up to my parents place for a well deserved holiday from raising a financial partnership team so as to be able to preach the gospel full time at Melbourne University, with my pregnant wife and two boys. Whilst there I meet and heard from some amazing people.  The little holiday town that my parents live in, and the surrounding areas, has a population of about 33,000. And that is spread over a pretty large area. So a small town really, but God has put some big spiritual fish into this small pond and I wanted to share a salvation story about just how much God loves the people who live there. I went to the local church one Sunday because I know a guy (I will call him John, but not real name) who is in training to become a pastor there. He sold up a successful small business that he owned so as to follow his heart to be used by God to change people's lives. Boy, what a service. There were approximately 70-80 people there, but they sang loud and with passio...

Humbled- The broken kind.

I have had a tough couple of weeks. Mainly self-inflicted .God responded with some swift  discipline  and broke me. But I asked Him too. I repeated this prayer to him early last month from psalm 32:9; 'Lead me like the mule if You have too!' and the passage for that is from is below. "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; "I will guide you with My eye.   Do not be like the horse   or   like the mule, Which   have no understanding"   So he did just that, led me like a mule, but because He cares so much for me. But it did brake me.

Faithful

“When you’re tempted to give up, I choose love.” I heard this song today. It had the above line in it. It really hit home for me. The song was about someone who was at the end of their rope. Had enough. Couldn’t do life any more.   And the singer is saying choose love when you’re wanting to give up. This perplexed me a little. On one hand the person wanting to give up is saying ‘I cant do anything more with my life.’ And the singer is saying, ‘make one more choice, choose….. Love.’ This meant a lot to me as I wanted to give up myself on my dreams and aspirations. As I heard this, the picture I got was of me falling back into God’s arms and relaxing.   I thought ‘That’s strange’. We are so ‘works’ based as the human race. Do, do, do. To get love, do something. Well today I choose to let go of doing. My Father in Heaven is just that, He’s my Father. He loves me so much. He will never stop loving me because I loose my faith in my own abilities. This was the s...

Killer Grace

If you are a Christian reading this than I am assuming (and only assuming) that at some point you realised that you were a person that didn’t quite meet the perfect performance that God expected of you, but at the same time, after hearing about Jesus (fully man and fully God) and what He did on the cross (as declaration of how deep and how wide His love truly is for you), and knowing that in that moment you ponder all of this you actually feel His presence and closeness, that He is right there with you because He is alive now, right now. Do you remember that? It was a great day, I am sure you remember. Greatest day of my life.

So what's your excuse?

There is nothing more important to God then getting people into His Kingdom. Let me repeat that; There is NOTHING more important to God than getting people into His Kingdom. God knows that once He has gained sons and daughters and they enter into His kingdom (both on Earth and in Heaven), that everything that they need will follow if they continue to seek after the very thing, that sought them out. 33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6. Unfortunately Jesus knew that it doesn’t matter how great the invitation, how good the party is (even if bacon and pork with awesome crackling is being served) people may not come along to be part of His Kingdom. That all kinds of ‘worldly’ excuses would be made. (Luke 14:15-25).
